Plant and seed swap
Do you need more plants? Have too many?
How about both?
Dig up your extra plants and bring them over
in pots, boxes or bags.
Please label:
Name, sun and water preferences, flower color
If you don't have any plants to share this time, no worries. Choose a couple to take home and contribute next time.
The only rule is:
Don't bring invasives
Here's a Google Sheet to share what you're bringing and seeking.
PLUS...
Assorted native seedling plugs available for purchase at cost.
These plugs come from a local wholesale native nursery and will be between $1 - $3 each.

FAQs
(Thanks to Noreen Greimann for her advice about planning)
Q. What kinds of plants can I bring?
A. Perennials, annuals, trees, shrubs or houseplants. Anything but species that are invasive in our area. Here's the prohibited list, from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Q. How does the plant swapping work?
A. It’s very simple. You bring any plants you would like to share (except invasives) and then look through the plants at the swap and take what you like. It's not a 1:1 exchange but here are some guidelines:
• Bring nothing – take 2-3 plants
• Bring a little – take some but don’t load your car up, and then come back 2 more times
• Bring some – have fun!
• Bring a lot – THANK YOU! You may load up your car.
• If there are 2-3 plants of one kind, take one.
• If there are 50, you may take multiples.
Q. How does the seed swap work?
A. We'll have a box where you can choose or contribute some seeds. We'll have small envelopes so you can take what you need and leave the rest for others.
Q. How will the plants be organized?
A. There will be areas for trees/shrubs, houseplants, sun perennials and shade perennials.
Q. How do I bring them?
A. In pots, bags or cardboard boxes. We'll have extra pots you can use to bring plants home.
Q. What if I don't have any plants to share yet?
A. That's ok. Take a couple home and bring some to contribute next time.
Q. Who are you?
A. We're Karen Maxim and Liz Wright-Jin, two Chadds Ford residents who are pollinator enthusaists and unrepentant plant hoarders. Liz keeps bees, rabbits and chickens. Karen has a bunch of native plant beds and an elaborate drip irrigation system. Questions? Contact Karen via email here.
